SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Proposal Writer works with other members of the Bid Team to respond to government requests for proposals (RFP) and requests for information (RFI). This position works collaboratively with senior executives and subject matter experts (SME) in various YoungWilliams departments to craft compelling messages about YoungWilliams’ offerings while meeting all stated objectives of the RFP. The Proposal Writer ensures all responses are well-written, current, and accurately reflect YoungWilliams’ solutions, services, and key messages. This position prioritizes work to successfully manage internal and external deadlines.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Participate in the proposal process for RFPs and RFIs of various sizes and levels of complexity, from initial strategy meetings through production
Collaborate with members of the Bid Team, SMEs, executives, and other key stakeholders to develop proposal sections that clearly articulate the company’s overall solution and strategy, approach to performing the work, and strategic win themes
Plan and lead efficient meetings and brainstorming sessions with key stakeholders, including SMEs and executives
Write, revise, and edit proposal drafts and documentation to ensure completeness, consistency, and conformity to our internal style guide and RFP-prescribed formats
Ensure adherence to YoungWilliams’ proposal process by using proposal automation software, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, checklists, and other proposal development tools
Maintain YoungWilliams’ voice and tone to ensure consistency across proposal sections and topics
Translate technical concepts into easily understandable text
Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities for information gathering, writing, reviewing, and approval; occasionally work evenings and/or weekends as needed
Review standard proposal sections during each RFP response to identify new questions, areas of concern, unique requirements, and opportunities for differentiation
Format, assemble, and prepare proposal volumes for production and delivery
Regular and timely attendance

REQUIRED EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or related area of study or equivalent work experience required
Graduate degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or related area of study preferred but not required
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Preferred 2+ years of experience in proposal writing, preferably in a federal or state proposal development environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and use of review tools including track changes and comments features
Proficiency to intermediate skill in cloud-based team collaboration software and systems (e.g., Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Teams) preferred
Experience with Adobe products (e.g., Acrobat)
Association of Proposal Management Professionals Certification desired but not required
